Passive Fire Protection
The Challenge
Stockwell Police Station forms part of the Stockwell tube station and had seen very little fire stopping in the last 20 years. The station needed a fire risk assessment conducted and work to upgrade the existing protection.
The Work
Following an EXOVA Fire Risk Assessment, Griffin won the tender to complete all the actions raised. The job consisted of:
- Creating fire breaks across the site to ensure that the fire compartmentation was consistent
- Installing intumescent pipe collars on all pipes penetrating the walls
- Sealing all other penetrations though walls across the site.
In conjunction with this, we also upgraded various doors across the site to ensure that they met the 30 minute fire rating requested.
The Result
All upgrades were made as scheduled and the project was delivered on time and to spec.
“We have been very impressed with the operatives carrying out the works on site, and have received nothing but good comments from BTP about how well your guys conducted themselves throughout. I visited site 4 times during the works and on each occasion found the works areas made safe/ correct signage and being managed perfectly, this is easier said than done in a working Police station so credit to them both for managing this. We would also like to comment on the operatives attitude as they were both very polite and approachable at all times, please pass on our thanks to them both. Overall I have been very impressed with the service from Griffin, from site survey stage to project completion, it’s been refreshingly professional.”
